Plastic is made from fossil fuels.  Metal is taken out of the ground with large machines that use more fossil fuels.

Computers and phones need electrical energy to work.

Buses need gasoline or diesol fuel - both fossil fuels.

School buses might use electricity to run someday in the future but right now they all use fossil fuels.

Big machines were used to make the book.
They all used electricity too.

Trucks used fossil fuels to take your book to a store.
Then somebody bought it for you and drove it home.

Pumps used electricity to take the water out of the ground
and put it into plastic bottles.

The plastic bottle is made mostly of fossil fuels.

The washing machine needs electricity to run.  More electricity was used to get the water to your house.

The clothes dryer needs electricity too, or a fossil fuel like natural gas, to make the heat to dry the clothes.

Water pumps use electricity to water the plants so they grow.

Trucks use fossil fuels to carry the food to the store. The store uses electricity to keep the food cold and fresh before we buy it. Then we put it in our refrigerator at home, using more electricity.

THAT TAKES THE ENERGY OF THE SUN!
Sunshine is the most important energy
for all of the people on earth.

Thank you, Richard and Marci Yates for your work on the solar cooker!
