Borrego Rock and Gem Club
Meeting Minutes, 14 November 2009
1. Reminder - Time to send in your dues for 2010 - $16 for the year.
2. $120 added to our treasury from the Lion's club swap meet the first Saturday of November. The club has approximately $750 in our account. We will participate in the swap meet again early in 2010, so save anything "junk" you have for then.
3. Plans are to include fossil trips in our field trips - will be inside the park, so collecting will NOT be a part of these trips.
4. Our standard schedule will remain the same - club meetings on the second Saturday of the month and the field trips on the fourth Saturday of the month. We will continue to plan the current month's field trip at the meeting prior to the trip.
5. The following expenditures were approved:
- Large slab saw needs a new blade - approximately $350.00. Will look for this during the field trip to Quartzsite in January.
- $50 for small trim saw to replace the one that belonged to Jim Havens.
6. The proposal to insure the equipment through CFMS was withdrawn.
7. Bob V. still looking for volunteers to paint the exterior walls of our equipment 'cubicle' to help protect the wood and to beautify the area. If you have paint to donate or artistic skills that could help to create a mural on the walls, please contact Bob.
8. Proposed field trips for January - Quartzsite 1/30-31 and Himalaya Tourmaline Feel dig.
9. PLEASE: If you use the equipment, put everything away and clean the area up after you are finished. Anything left lying about is fair game for whoever finds it.
10. The next meeting is Saturday, December 12th at 9:00 a.m. at the Borrego Desert Nature Center. Agenda includes election of officers for next year. Field trip with Paul Reimika to look at fossil footprints included as part of meeting. Note 9:00 a.m. start.
