Anza-Borrego North: Ash Wash

 
Ash Wash

Some 760,000 years ago, a volcano erupted in Inyo County, spreading ash as far east as Kansas and Nebraska. One place where it landed in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park was in a canyon in the Coyote Badlands east of the Second Crossing of Coyote Creek.
