This is the new standard reference for professional and serious amateur botanists, not the occasional desert visitor. It is a meticulously recorded scientific book of details regarding fruits, flowers, leaves and other plant parts. Both the Morhardts and Munz’s editors acknowledge their reliance on Jepson.

This book is a required reference for professionals and amateurs who require or want the latest scholarship. The entries are written in a botanical shorthand. Measurements are metric. While the shorthand is well-defined in the introduction, understanding it could well be an impediment to the uninitiated.
